What Did I Do Today - Dawud Wharnsby Ali

Published by 5yS under on 5:53 PM

Oh the moon has come, the day is done,
the night has covered up the sun,
I have stood so often before you to pray,
but I wonder Allah, tell me, what did I do today?
Did I remember the words of Al-Fatihah?
Did I take time to thank you for all that I have?
Did I call on you to guide my way?
Tell me what did I do today?

I have whispered to you as I made Ruku
Subhana Rabey'yal Adheem.
But was my faith bright or grey?
Oh Allah, tell me, what did I do today?
Did I smile at my brother?
Was I kind to my Mother?
Did I teach another something I know?
Or did my love of this world lead me astray?
Tell me what did I do today?

Sami Allah hu liman hamida
Rabbana Lakal Hamd.
Sami Allah hu liman hamida
Rabbana Lakal Hamd.

Though I've bowed to you with my face in the dust,
Subhana Raby'yal a`la.
The blessings you give I could never repay.
Oh Allah, tell me, what did I do today?
Did I use my time?
Did I use my mind?
If I search my heart what will I find?
The light of your guidance is a glimmering ray,
Tell me, what did I do today?
Oh Allah, Tell me what did I do today?

Music And MusiCaL InstruMent....How DoeS IsLaM Stand to tHeM??

Published by 5yS under on 5:31 AM

Recently, i have been doing some research on how Islam stand on Music and Musical Instruments.

Found that there is no clear evidence about the prohibition of music and musical instruments in Al-Quran.However, there were some conflict between Islamic scholar regarding the matter. Let us discussed them in details.

AGAINST
Some of the scholars were saying that music and musical instrument were totally prohibited in Islam and they support their stand by saying that "music and singing is a sin and cause for the sickening and weakening of the heart
." Imam Ibn Tamiyyah said regarding the person, whose habit is to listen to music, "His state of emotions become less passionate when he hears the Qur'an.On the contrary, when he listens to instruments of the devils(music), he dances a lot. If the prayer is established, he either prays while sitting down or performs it as fast as when the roaster picks seeds. He dislike listening to the Qur'an and does not find beauty in it while reciting it."
The prophet s.a.w said, "From among my nation there will be those who render as lawful adultery, silk (for men), Al-Khamr (alcohol) and musical instruments." [Al-Bukhari]

In another version of this narration, Rasulullah s.a.w said: “Most certainly, people from my Ummah will consume liquor which they will describe with some other name. Over their heads will be playing musical instruments and singing girls. Allah will cause the earth to swallow them, and from among them He will transform into apes and pigs.” (Ibn Maajah)
In Al-Quran :
"And of mankind he who purchases idle talks to mislead (people) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment." (Luqman 31:6)

Al-Wahidi, along with other scholars of Tafsir (explaining the Quran), said that "Idle Talk" in this Ayat is singing. This Tafsir was given by the following companions: ibn Abbas, ibn Masud, Mujahid and Ikrimah (RU).
Ibn Masud (RA) said,
"By Allah (SWT), whom there is no God except Him, idle talk is singing."

Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Baz was asked about listening to music and songs, "Is it Haram?" I only listen to it for pleasure. What about playing the Rababah (a kind of guitar) and old songs?
"Listening to music is Haram and a sin. It is a matter that leads to weakening the hearts and abandoning the Dhikr of Allah (SWT) and the prayer. The scholars said about the Ayat, "And of mankind he who purchases idle talks…" (31:6), that idle talks means singing. Abdullah ibn Masud (RA), the Prophet’s (SAW) companion, used to swear by Allah (SWT) that it is singing. If singing is accompanied by the Rababah, ‘Ud (Arabic guitar), fiddles or drums, it is even more Haram. Any singing with any instrument is Haram and the scholars are unanimous on this. "

MY VIEWS
Please take note that im not trying to give out any fatwa or anything related to it, its just to answer my curiosity upon the topics and share them with u.From all of my sources which includes internet, books and magazines, i've found that there were no specific answer to this question. Therefore, i conclude that it is totally depends on ourselves. After u have properly studied the matter, then u will surely found the answer in it. However, i would like to remind all of u NOT to freely giving out any fatwa regarding the matter.
"Imam Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: “It was not the habit of those who preceded us, the early pious Muslims, who set good example for the following generations, to say, 'This is halal , and this is haram . But, they would say, ‘I hate such-and-such, and maintain such-and-such, but as for halal and haram , this is what may be called inventing lies concerning Allah. Did not you hear Allah's Statement that reads, 'Say: Have you considered what provision Allah has sent down for you, how you have made of it lawful and unlawful? Say: Has Allah permitted you, or do you invent a lie concerning Allah?” (Yunus: 59) For, the halal is what Allah and His Messenger made lawful, and the haram is what Allah and His Messenger made unlawful."
Therefore, Muslims must be aware of it.I advise you and others to read the Quran and keep remembering Allah (SWT). This way, one will find pleasure and at the same time gain blessing from Allah.
For those who have some knowledge regarding this matter, please leave me ur comment.Thanks..

Best Regards,

Its not really the first step..i've been doing these blog thingy before and i found that it's a wasting of time..but is it true?? Does blogging really badly impacting our lyfe? or is it just me..who are hardly managing my own life...
I've been thinking for quite some time about this matter and one of my lecturer once said something like this : "everything that were created by Allah in this world is good and beneficial for us..Its our own fault for misusing the good and turned them to evil.."
After hearing those fantastic phrase, i've decided, why not using blog as a a medium for improving my life instead of blaming them because of my own foolishness..Do not terminate everything that u think is not giving u any benefits..instead, try to solve them..who knows, ur life might turned to be better....
Sometimes, the things that u are afraid of might be something that u may really need in the future....
Wallahua'lam
So, here I am...Striving towards the betterment of life...
May Allah Bless Me and Us all...IAllah..
And I think Its not too late to say " Ahlan Wasahlan Ya Ramadhan Kareem"

"Wahai manusia! Apabila Ramadhan tiba, sesungguhnya pintu-pintu syurga dibukakan bagimu, maka mintalah kepada Tuhanmu agar tidak pernah menutupkannya bagimu. Pintu-pintu neraka tertutup. maka mohonlah kepada Rabbmu untuk tidak akan pernah dibukakan bagimu. Syaitan-syaitan terbelenggu , maka mintalah agar ia tidak lagi pernah menguasaimu."

Today I shall be refined in my speech and will utter neither evil speech nor obscenity. Also, I shall not backbite.
Today I will be particular about my bodily cleanliness and appearance.
O' past that has departed away and is gone, I will not cry over you. You may not see me remembering you, not even for a moment, because u have travelled away never to return.
O' future, you are in the realm of the unseen, So i will not be obsessed by your dreams. I will not be preoccupied about what is to come because tomorrow is nothing and has not yet been created.
